8. The Casa Batlló

 

Realized by Antoni Gaudi in 1904/1906 for the rich manufacturer Josep Batlló, the Casa Batlló is a modernistic building of 5000 square meters on the list of UNESCO World Heritage.

 

Its facade is considered one of the most original works by Gaudi, resembling a building with bones and skulls. For its realization, the architect was inspired by the marine world, using for example the colors of natural coral for his sculptures in polychrome ceramics.

 

The building is open to the public since 2002 and was awarded the Europa Nostra award for conservation of architectural heritage in 2004. It is since then one of the most visited monuments in the city.

 

Tours are offered to the public with a guide depending on your language, and costs 22 euros (free admission for children under 7 years, possible discounts for 7/18 years, students, over 65s and Tourist card holders).
From June to September, the casa Battló organizes “magical nights” from 21:30, during which you will have for free a welcome drink, a visit to the main floor and access to the modernist terrace where different artists perform every night.

The Parc del Laberint

The parc del Laberint is the oldest parc of the city. It’s location in the North of Barcelona makes it less touristic than the others.
